Erbaluce: vineyards & tasting in Caluso

Erbaluce is the white grape of the Canavese: according to legend it was born from the tears of the nymph Albaluce, daughter of the Dawn. Around Caluso it grows on traditional pergolas, on hills left behind by an ancient glacier — and it gives a wine with bright acidity and a golden light.

This experience is a slow afternoon among the vines with a winemaking family I know and love. We will walk in the vineyard, visit the cellar and taste Erbaluce in all its forms: the fresh still wine, the elegant sparkling one and the precious passito, which ages for years before it is ready.

On the table, the flavours of the area: local cheeses, salam d’patata, bread and torcetti. It is a chance to ask questions, listen to real stories and understand why wine here is, above all, a matter of family and patience.
