The Canavese is a land of castles: more than eighty towers and manors watch over its hills. As an art historian, this is where I feel most at home.
We start at Masino, one of the most fascinating castles in Piedmont, looked after by the FAI: frescoed halls, a library full of treasures and a romantic park with one of the largest hedge mazes in Italy. After lunch in a village osteria, we move on to Agliè, the ducal castle that became a residence of the House of Savoy — and a famous film set.
I’ll help you read paintings, furniture and gardens like pages of a book, and tell you the stories of the families who lived there.
